ROBERT D. COMPTON

Robert D. Compton, 47, of 3314 Hoover Avenue in Ames passed away Saturday at his home.

Born Jan. 8, 1926 in Mason City, Mr. Compton married Helen Portwood May 22, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas and lived the last 23 years in Ames, He worked the last 10 years as equipment manager for Byers Hall at ISU and previous to that had worked 12 years with Hy Vee in Ames.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, one daughter, Mrs. Ren Rugless of Palm Springs, Calif.; a son, Robbie, parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Compton of Ames; a brother, Jack of Cedar Rapids; and four sisters, Mrs. Karen Nowlin of Ames, Mrs. Lorraine VerSteegh of Chicago, Mrs. Dorothy Collis of Des Moines and Mrs. Beverly Pearson of Cedar Rapids.

Services will be Tuesday, August 14 at 1:20 p.m. at Steven's Memorial Chapel in Ames with Rev. John J. Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call at the Stevens Memorial Chapel from now until time of services Tuesday.
