DEATHS

An overflow crow of relatives and friends gathered at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Slater to pay final tribute to Perry Dickerson at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Rev. John Thompson, pastor of the Garden Prairie Church was the officiating pastor using as his text and theme, the 23rd psalm "The Lord Is My Shepherd."

Mrs. Oliver Newman, organist, also served as accompanist for Nilus Uhle who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God's Tomorrow."

Pallbearers were David Drake, Carl Harmon, Alvin Vetter, Charles Heitkamp, David Conkel and Thayne Lowman.

Interment was in the Slater Municipal Cemetery.

Perry Loren Dickerson, son of the late Harvey and Martha Dickerson, was born Nov. 23, 1915 at Princeton, Mo. and died after a three month illness at his home in Slater Oct. 5, 1966 at the age of 50 years, 10 months and 13 days.

When he was about a year old, he moved to Iowa with his parents and grew to manhood in Garden Township. He graduated from Kelley High School with the class of 1934.

Perry was baptized at the Garden Prairie Church of which he became an active member and served on the church board. After moving to Slater, he was also a member of the Slater Kiwanis Club.

On January 12, 1941 he was united in marriage to Gladys Christianson. To this union was born four children, three of whom survive: Gary, Slater; Paul at home and Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Book of Colo and also three grandchildren, Gary Lee, Tammy and Penny Dickerson. Other survivors are his wife, Gladys; three brothers, Lloyd of Kelley, Harvey, Jr. of Ames and Robert Tesdahl of Madrid; one sister, Mrs. John (Mildred) Patrick of Westminster, Colo., many nieces and nephews and also a large number of other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a son, Richard who died in infancy, his parents, one brother and one sister.

After his marriage he moved to a farm in the Garden Prairie Community where he farmed for 17 years and then moved to Slater where he was in the plumbing and heating business.

Perry was very devoted to all his family and was very well liked by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.
