Ethel Hoberland Dies at Hospital Here on Sunday

Mrs. Ethel Hoberland, 75, died Sunday at 7:35 a.m. at the Story County Hospital in Nevada. She suffered a stroke on Monday night an was hospitalized on Tuesday.

Mrs. Hoberland was born April 17, 1891 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Deal near Zearing. She had lived in the Zearing community her entire life.

She was a member of the E.U.B. Church in Zearing and of the American Legion Auxiliary. In July of this year, she was awarded a 500-hour pin for work in the Ladies in Blue at the Iowa Soldier's Home in Marshalltown. The pin was awarded at the Legion Auxiliary Convention in Des Moines.

Preceding her in death was her husband, John, in September 1954, her parents and a brother, Otto.

Survivors are her son, Lowell, Zearing; a daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Verda) Oakes of Cashton, Wisc., twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Meldora Clark of Glendale, Calif. and Mrs Lila Hambly of Waterloo; two brothers, Orel Deal of Elsmore, Calif. and Leon Deal of Iowa Falls.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the E.U.B. Church in Zearing with the Rev. Richard L. Miller in charge. Burial will be in the Zearing Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing until the time of service.
