FUNERAL OF OLE HALVERSON

Many Other Interesting News Notes From Slater

Special to the Journal.
Slater, Dec. 5--Funeral services for Ole O. Halverson were held at the Lincoln church, Tuesday afternoon. Rev. C. Vang had charge of the services and spoke in both languages. Miss Irma Sydnes of Huxley sang, "Den Store Hvide Flok." "In the Garden" was sung by Miss Ruth Halverson and Mrs. A. L. Peterson sang, "Fly Som En Fugl." The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. The deceased leaves his wife, a sister, Mrs. Malinda Queensland and a brother, H. O. Halverson besides other relatives. Among those from a distance at the services were Nels Fredrickson of Rolfe, a brother of Mrs. Halverson, Mr. and Mrs. Alice Queensland of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Queensland of Jewell, Mrs. Tom Lundy of Northwood, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson of Kelley, Amos Walker of Des Moines, Harry Langland of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Weir Sydnes and Irma Sydnes of Huxley.

Ole O. Halverson was born in Ol, Norway, December 26, 1853. He came to America in 1858 with his parents. They made their first home in Dane county, Wisconsin. In 1869 they moved to Polk county and settled on a farm southeast of here. He was married to Miss Malinda Fredrickson. Their union was childless. They sold their farm in 1907 and moved to Slater, where they made their residence. Mr. Halverson became seriously ill October 1st and died Saturday, November 26th. He was one of the charter members when the Lincoln congregation was organized many years ago. Later he and his wife transferred their membership to the Houges Free church. He was always interested in church work and helped a great deal financially. He has a large circle of friends who will miss him.
