PRINGLE, J. A. (1830-1894)

MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 18, 1894, page 5. “J. A. Pringle, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Story count, residing in Collins township, died Tuesday, Jan. 9th, from an attack of la grippe which developed into a severe form. Mr. Pringle was a kid, genial man and has lived in this part of the state since 1866, moving here from near Barkshire, Jones county. He was born in Delaware county, Ohio, but was a man thoroughly attached to Iowa and her welfare. His demise is a great loss to the community where he resided. Rev. A. L. Curtis conducted the funeral service in the M. E. church at Collins last Wednesday, administering words of consolation to the deeply afflicted family. The remains were laid to rest in the Collins cemetery.”

MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 25, 1894, page 5. “E. D. Pringle, who was called here by the sickness and death of his father, returned to his home in South Dak., the first of the week. He was accompanied by his little son.”

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 1, 1894, page 4, column 3. "Obituary. - PRINGLE: Mr. J. A. Pringle was born near Parkshire, Delaware county, Ohio, Jan. 21, 1830, and died Monday, Jan. 8, 1894, from a stoke of apoplexy on the brain. He was united in marriage to Miss Philena Vining March 26, 1852. May 7th of the same year he moved to Jones county, Iowa. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Jones Co. In 1866 he, with his family, moved to Collins Twp., Story county, Iowa, where he resided until his death. In the fall of 1876 he united with the Christian church, of which he continued a faithful member until his death. His faith and trust was in the Lord, that he might gain a home in heaven. He leaves a wife, four children and one sister to mourn his death."
