David Christy, 93, Dies in Lutheran Home Tuesday Morn

David O. Christy, a former Nevada resident died at the Iowa Lutheran Home in Madrid Tuesday morning. He had been resident of the home for the past four years.

Christy, who was 93, was born in Indiana October 13, 1872, the son of John and Rachael Christy.

A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Story County for 55 years. He was married to Edna Gertrude Elliott June 6, 1897 in Champaign County, Illinois.

He was a member of the Nevada EUB-Methodist Church and had been a member of Nevada Masonic Lodge No 99 for nearly 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Gertrude; two sons, Carl S. Christy of Nevada and David Keith Christy of San Diego, Calif.; one grandson and five great grandchildren. He was the last of seven children and was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at the Nevada EUB-Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carey Christy of Olney, Ill. and the Rev. Robert Link officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Ryan Funeral home until noon Friday when it will be taken to the church to await time of funeral services.
