Malliet Funeral Service Today

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Aug. 7--Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Malliet, 78, who died at he home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Brock, at Jefferson Saturday from a stroke of apoplexy, following an illness of about four months, were held today at 9:30 at St. Gabriel's church, Zearing, with Rev. Fr. Frien in charge.

Interment was in St. James cemetery, Colo, by the side of the husband who died 8 years ago. One daughter, Ella, has preceded her in death.

The surviving children are Mrs. Ann Brock of Jefferson, Mrs. Mary Wheelock of near Zearing, Charles Malliet of near Zearing, D. M. Malliett of Kelley, Mrs. Catherine Jennet of Algona, Henry Malliet of Algona, Michael Malliet of near Shipley and Nicholas Malliet of Fairmont, Minn. She leaves also one brother, Nicholas Steffen, of Chicago, a sister Mrs. Margaret Cassidy of Walker, Minn., and 21 grandchildren.

She was a native of Luxemburg, where she was born August 15, 1885*. She came to America as a girl of 18 years and settled first in Chicago, where she married to Nicholas Malliet.

They came to Iowa 52 years ago and located on a farm north of Colo. After retiring from the farm they moved into Zearing, where the husband died 8 years ago.

For the past three years she had made her home with her daughter, Anna, where she passed away on Saturday, August 4.

She was of the Catholic faith and had been constant and active in church life.

Mrs. Malliet, a woman who had always been devoted to her home and family, will be most kindly remembered by a wide circle of old neighbors and friends.

Six of the grandsons served as pallbearers at the funeral and the church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: This submitter recognizes this year should be 1855 if the age of 78 is correct and if she arrived in the U.S. at the age of 18 over 52 years ago.
