Brother Dies in Fairmont, Minnesota
Nicholas Malliet, brother of Chas. Malliet of Nevada and Mrs. Mary Wheelock, at Zearing died in the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, Minn. Tuesday, March 1, at the age of 70 of cancer. He was a resident of Fairmont, Minn.
He was born in Story County, Iowa on Sept. 17, 1895 near Zearing and attended school there.
He married Viola Hansgaard at Fairmont on Feb. 11, 1925 and farmed many years, retiring to Fairmont in 1954. He was an active member of the Legion and served in many capacities and once was state vice commander.
Two sons and four daughters survive: Robert, Muriel and Mrs. Ralph Hillmer, of Fairmont; James of Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Chas. Smith and Marilyn Malliet, of Hood River, Oregon. There are 22 grandchildren.
Brothers and sisters surviving are: Henry and Michael Malliet and Mrs. Anna Brock, of Des Moines, Chas., of Nevada, Demmy of Ames and Mrs. Mary Wheelock of Zearing.
The funeral was Friday, March 4 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and interment was in the Calvary Cemetery.
