Mrs. Mary Downey Dies at Altoona

Mrs. Mary E. Downey, 87 years of age, of Mitchellville, died in the Shady Lawn Rest Home in Altoona Wednesday afternoon after considerable period of failing health.

She was born March 4, 1874, and was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church at Mitchellville.

She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Emma Mead, of Collins; Mrs. Pearl Phillips and Mrs. Edna McNeer, both of Des Moines, Mrs. Jessie McIntosh, of Bondurant and Mrs. Viola Clement of Newton.

There are 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

It is expected that funeral services will be at the Mitchellville Methodist Church, Saturday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Farrar Cemetery.
