DEATHS
SOBIN JOHN SYDNES*
Sobin John Sydnes*, son of Nels and Lovina Sydnes was born in Story County, Iowa on Dec. 20, 1882. He was a lifetime resident of Huxley with the exception of a few years spent in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Fjeldberg Church.
On Dec. 19, 1906, he was united in marriage to Burnette Hill. To this union seven children were born. Three sons, Norris of Ames; Stanley of Des Moines and Gene of Huxley. Four daughters, Erma Williams, Ames; Fern Fenner of Des Moines; Lanice Houge of Huxley; Marcine Stowe of Cambridge.
Mr. Sydnes had been in failing health the last few years and died April 22 at the age of 83 years.
He is survived by his seven children, one sister, Sophia Saveraid of Alhambra, Calif., 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater. The Rev. M. Harold Rye of the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley officiated.
Pallbearers were Gerald Sydnes, Richard Sydnes, Robert Stowe, John Stowe, Larry Stowe and Daniel Stowe.
Burial was in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.
