Funeral Services for Hans H. Hauge

Huxley, Nov. 29 Funeral services for Hans H. Hauge, 77, who suddenly passed away on Wednesday, were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26, in charge of Rev. Peder Buland. There was a brief service at the house at 1:30 and at the Lincoln church in Huxley at 2:00 o'clock. In the service at the church Rev. Buland spoke in the English language, using as his text Hebrews 13:14, "For here we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." He also spoke in the Norwegian language. There were two vocal solos, one in English, "Jesus Cares," and the other in Norwegian, "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name," by Walter Christopher, accompanied by Elizabeth Maland, also two mixed quartet numbers, "No Disapointment in Heaven," and "We Are Going Down the Valley One By One," by Irene Berhow, Mrs. Rex Elliott, Walter Weiser and Walt Christopher, accompanied by Jeanette Larson.

The pallbearers were P. T. Brown, Sack Toresdahl, S. B. Nagle, Gunder Rullestad, Jacob Lande and Lewis Munson.

The funeral was a large one and the beautiful floral offerings were a tribute of high esteem in which the deceased was held by relatives, neighbors and friends. Interment was in the Palestine cemetery.

Hans H. Hauge was born of parents Hans and Henrikka Hauge Feb. 2, 1856, at Kvinhered, Norway, and died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1933, having reached an age of 77 years, 9 months and 24 days.

He came here from Norway, as a young man, and had lived most of his life on his farm a short distance north of Huxley.

He had been ailing in health the past number of years and the last few weeks he had been worse. On Wednesday white enroute home on the bus from Des Moines, where he had been to consult a physician, he was taken ill and was hurried to the office of a physician at Ankeny, where he was pronounced dead from heart failure by the doctor and the county coroner who was called. The Larson funeral home at Huxley was called they brought the remains home. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, his sons, Ben of Hatton, N. D., Helmer of Elmore, Minn., and Ole of near Huxley, his daughters, Mrs. Ellen Kenniston (sic) of Chicago, Mrs. Aletta Hill nd Mrs. Hannah Tesdall of Huxley, also eleven grandchildren, two brothers, one living at Mayville, N. D., and the other in Norway, also to two sisters in Norway. He was a member of the Lincoln church.

There were many relatives and friends from a distance, among them Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Hauge and two sons from Elmore, Minn., Ben Hauge and three sons from Hatton, N. D., and others from Story City, Roland, Cambridge and other places. The brother, Henry Hauge, from Mayville, N. D., was unable to come on account of illness.
