THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 6, 1921, page 1, column 2. "MRS. W. E. PARR. - Mary Elizabeth McQueen was born near Moscow Mills, Ohio, April 20, 1850, and departed this life October 1, 1921, at her home, near Maxwell, Iowa, at the age of seventy-one years, five months and eleven days. In 1871 she moved with her family from Illinois to Iowa, where she spent the rest of her life. On February 11, 1872, she was united in marriage to William E. Parr, who preceded her in death December 27, 1919. To this union were born eight children, four boys and four girls; J. W., Mrs. Della Rouzer and Mrs. Ellen McQuiston, of Maxwell; Mrs. Julia Bittner, of Collins, and Ben of Reasnor, Iowa. Daniel E., Asa LeRoy and Mrs. Nellie Thomas preceded the parents in death. Mrs. Parr, for a number of years, has been a member of the Eastern Star lodge. She often expressed herself as being ready to go when it was the Lord's will. Besides the children, who survive her, there remains to mourn her departure, two sisters, three brothers, seven grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion church, Monday, October 3d, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. D. Robinson, after which interment was made in the Loring cemetery. The ceremonies at the grave were in charge of the Eastern Star, who exemplified the beautiful ritualistic services of that order. The pall bearers were: Messrs. J. W. Huffman, S. J. Tomlinson, W. E. Mills, M. H. Troup, O. F. Strombeck and F. H. Allen."
