THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday July 30, 1942, page 1, column 2. "FUNERAL RITES HELD AT COLLINS FOR LATE WILLIAM OZMUN - Collins, July 21 - Funeral services for the late William A. Ozmun, who passed away early Saturday afternoon, were held Monday afternoon, July 20, at 2:30 o'clock from the Collins Church of Christ with the Rev. Lloyd Patton of that Church, in charge. He was assisted by the Rev. Chas. Fix of the Methodist church. The floral offerings were very beautiful and were arranged at the Church and at the grave by Miss Iva Swalwell and Mrs. On. N. Serbein, assisted by Mrs. D. W. Hubbard. A quartet composed of Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson, Mrs. George Holmes, Rev. Arthur Martson and Tom Huntrods, with Mrs. Fred Mead at the piano, sang "Going Down the Valley," "In the Garden," and "The Eastern Gate." Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery south of Maxwell, with Stark Atwood, Jesse Vasey, Euclid Harch, Will Morrison, Ollie Hawkins and Isaac Kimberley acting as pallbearers. The Church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends, many coming form a distance to pay their tribute to one they had long known and loved. The following brief life history was read at the Church by the Rev. Patton: William Andrew Ozmun, son of Samuel and Jane Ozmun, was born in Collins township, Aug. 8, 1870, and passed away at his home in Collins Saturday, July 18, 1942 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 10 days. He grew to manhood in this community and was married to Clara B. Denniston on Jan. 14, 1892. To this union eight children were born, five of whom survive. They are namely, Blanche Woods of Stratford, Mo., Flora Morrison of Collins, Sam Ozmun of Madison, Wisc., Dorothy Sarsfield, of Chicago, and Catherine McNamara of Clinton, Ia. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away Feb. 25, 1923, and the three children, Andrew, Vilda and Zola. He was again married on May _ 1930 to Mrs. Emma Brouhard of Maxwell and they moved shortly afterward to Independence, Iowa, where they made their home until two months ago when they purchased a home in Collins. Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother, Phillip D. Ozmun of Collins, two sisters, Jennie Evans of Collins and Myra Ozmun of Maxwell; also a large number of more distant relatives and friends."
