THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 2, 1896, page 5, column 3. "Sad Accident - Jno. Oxley, of this place, received a telegram last Friday announcing the death of his son, Thomas Oxley, of Hubbard, who was kicked by a horse, and the resulting injuries proving fatal. The skull was fractured and death followed within a few hours. It is a singular fact that the unfortunate man suffered from an accident of like character, when a boy, which nearly terminated fatal, and visible mark of which he carried through life. The deceased was a former resident of Peoria City, a most highly esteemed citizen, and his untimely death is a sad blow to relatives and friends. The funeral was held Sunday and largely attended."
