THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Thursday May 25, 1899, page 5. "MISS LUCY OXLEY DIES. Death again invaded the home of W. R. Oxley and on Saturday, May 20th, claimed his only daughter, Miss Lucy, and on Sunday he laid to rest the last one of a loving family. The grim destroyer has been particularly severe with Mr. Oxley but he bears his heavy grief heroically. Miss Lucy was sick about six weeks with lung trouble when the summons came from Him who giveth life and who taketh it away, and she went to join her mother, who died Nov. 6, 1894, and her brother who died March 8, 1899. Miss Lucy was born Jan. 17, 1882, and was a sweet young lady who endeared herself to all her friends, and to part with one so young and fair, who was all the world to him, was indeed painful to the father. Rev. S. S. Scull preached the funeral sermon at the C. P. church Sunday and was assisted by Revs. Mowry, Heskett and Doty. The interment took place in the Maxwell cemetery and many friends there paid their last sad tribute to the departed. Mr. Oxley has the sincere sympathy of the community in his great bereavement."
