THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 3, 1935, page _. "REV. CHARLES G. OXLEY - Rev. Charles G. Oxley died at his home, 1432 Sixth Ave. S. E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa, September 21, 1935, at 12:10 a. m. Death followed a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1870, in Story county, Iowa, had attended Adrian college in Michigan and was ordained a minister in 1893. He had served in several churches in northern Iowa and his last two pastorates were at Peterson, Iowa, and Canton, S. D. He had been a resident of Cedar Rapids for the last twenty-three years, thirteen of which he had been associated with the Cedar Rapids gas. Co. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenneth G. Oxley, of Truro, Iowa; one brother, J. C. Oxley, of Maxwell, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Hilton, of Cambridge, Iowa. Mr. Oxley was a member of the First Congregational church, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and of the Modern Woodmen. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Cedar Rapids at 12:30 p. m. Monday, Sept. 23. The Rev. Nelson C. Dreler, assisted by the Rev. c. H. Van Meter, of Marshalltown, who is a brother of Mrs. Oxley, officiated, Members of Maine Lodge, No. 643 I. O. O. F., attended the services in a body. Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Oxley, Clyde Oxley, Mr. and Mrs. c. H. Ince, Mrs. Jennie Oxley and Wm. Hilton, of Maxwell; Mrs. Goldie Foster, of Des Moines; Mrs. Florence Mead, of Collins; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Hilton, of Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ackley and daughter, Carol, of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Alice Sperlin, of Green Mountain. Interment was at Clemons Grove, Iowa."
