THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 10, 1913, page 1. "OBITUARY- Blanche Young, daughter of William and Leuretha Young, of Collins, was born in Washington township, Polk county, February 23, 1890 and died at her home, near Peoria, July 5, 1913, aged twenty-three years, four months and twelve days. This death is particularly sad, as she was a bride of only seven months, having been married to Clyde R. Oxley, November 28, 1912. She leaves behind to mourn her early departure, her husband, father, mother, a sister and two brothers, besides many other relatives and friends. Her illness was very brief and several days before her death, she realized that she must die, and made every arrangement for her funeral; she expressed no fear of death, but was resigned to the inevitable, stating that all was well. Blanche was a very dutiful child in the home, a loving daughter, a faithful wife, the pride of her parents and the idol of her husband. She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways, so that her circle of friendship was a large one. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, July 6th, at the M. P. church in Peoria, conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. J. Nutt, whose text was taken from St. John 14, the favorite chapter of the deceased. Two of her favorite songs were sung by the choir. She sleeps in the beautiful Peoria cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. This was perhaps the largest funeral ever held in this community, there being nearly 700 persons present. Those who were here from a distance were Henry Gibson, of Milford, Indiana, and Maude Rogers, from Mexico, both relatives; also relatives from State Center, Ira and Des Moines. "Dear one sleep, thy warfare's o'er, Sleep the sleep that knows not breaking. Dream of battlefields no more, Days of danger, nights of waking." CARD OF THANKS - To the friends and neighbors for their kindly ministrations, words of sympathy and beautiful floral tokens, during the sickness and death of our beloved wife and daughter, we take this method of expressing our heartfelt gratitude. - Clyde R. Oxley, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young and family."
