THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 8, 1909, page 1: "OBITUARY - Anna Eliza, daughter of W. R. and Jennie Oxley, was born June 11, 1904, and died July 4, 1909, aged five years and twenty-four days. The little one has been a sufferer from dropsy of the heart since last Thanksgiving day and last Sabbath morning the angel of death came and called her home. A bud of promise broken here. Transplanted to a heavenly sphere. The funeral was conducted from the home on Tuesday afternoon, July 6th at 2:00 o'clock, by Rev. H. G. Hicks, of the M. E. church, and the body was laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery. Four children, Susie Oxley, Goldie Oxley, Clarence Oxley and Vera Byers, acted as pall bearers and tenderly bore the remains of the innocent babe to the open grave while tears dimmed every eye at the display of devotion."
