DEATH OF AGED ROLAND MAN.

S. S. Severtson, 89, Called by Death Messenger.

Special to the Journal.
Roland, April 11--Funeral services were held for S. S. Severtson, who died at his home last Sunday, on Wednesday afternoon at Salem's church, Rev. Olaf Holen, having charge of the services. Interment was at the local cemetery.

Mr. Severtson was born at Stavanger, Norway, January 28, 1838, and passed away in Roland, April 3, 1927, being at the time of his death over 89 years of age. He came to America in 1870 and settled near New Sharon, Iowa, where he lived for four years. He then moved to the southern part of Story county where he lived until 1897, when he moved to Roland, where he has resided ever since.

He was married three times, first to Miss Marie Sovig in 1860, to whom were born six children, four of whom died in infancy, and one at the age of 21 years, Mrs. Anfin Hague of McLeod, Minn., being the only surviving one of this union. Mrs. Severtson died in 1871.

in 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Madlin Stenson to which union were born five children, all of whom are living, Martin of Blue Earth, Minn., Lewis, and Mrs. Tom Ryan of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Mrs. Tom Larson of West Concord, Minn., and Joseph of Emmons, Minn. His second wife died in 1890.

In 1902 he was again married to Miss Laura Peterson, who survives him, to whom were born two children, Mrs. Mary Sanftner and Miss Sarah both living at home. All of his children were present at the funeral.
