"Obituary of Oscar Anderson

Oscar Anderson, a lifetime resident of Story County, died after an illness of two weeks at the Story City Hospital on Sunday, January 7th, at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Anderson was a son of the late Andrew and Julie Anderson and was born near McCallsburg, January 20, 1893. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland.

On January 14, 1920, he was united in marriage to Vinnie Ward, who preceded him in death in 1954. To that union was born one son, Edward.

In 1957 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Anderson. He farmed near McCallsburg until retiring in 1960 when he moved to Story City.

Anderson was a veteran of World War I and a member of the McCallsburg Legion Post #334.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice of Story City; a son, Edward A. Anderson of Nevada; two stepsons, Robert E. Anderson of Story City and LaVerne A. Anderson of Creston; one step daughter, Bernice (Mrs. James Voga) of Story City; nine step grandchildren; two brothers, Amos Anderson of Nevada and Clarence Anderson of Zearing and three sisters, Rosie (Mrs. Wesley Springer) of McCallsburg; Annie (Mrs. Richard Anderson) of Nevada, and Bertie (Mrs. M.N. Forland) of Northwood.

Mrs. Bertha Brasier of Long Beach, California mae her home with the A.B. Anderson family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother; two brothers (Ove and Ervin); two sisters (Allie and Josie).

He was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and of the Immanual Lutheran Church since 1961.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11th, 1973 at 2:00 p.m. in Immanual Lutheran Church, Story City, with Rev. C.C. Gisselquist officiating.

Mrs. Harold Olson presided at the organ preceding the funeral service, and also accompanied Mrs. Clara Anderson as she sang "I Am But A Stranger Here", and "How Great Thou Art".

Pallbearers were Marley Anderson, Dennis Anderson, Michael Anderson, Donald Springer, Dr. Lawrence Forland, and Max Ward. Interment was in the Roland Cemetery with military rites conducted by McCallsburg Legion Post #334."
