DEATHS

HARRY WOLFORD

Services for Harry Wolford were held March 27 in the Bethel United Methodist church in Zearing. Casket bearers were Asher Oaks, Delos Dakins, Delos Cerka, Ambrose Johnston, Willard Dunahoo and Max McBride.

Mrs. Walter Lund played the organ as Orris Osheim sang, "Peace in the Valley" and the quartet of Russell Golly, Dale Johnston, Eldon Crain and Paul Lundy sang "How Great Thou Art." Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Loren Perry and Mrs. Vernon Matsen.

Brouhard Funeral home was in charge of services and burial ws in the Zearing Cemetery Rev. Richard L. Miller officiating.

Relatives attend the services were from Lewiston, Idaho, Denver, Colo., San Jose, Calif., Milwaukee, Wis., Mountain Lake, Minn., Butterfeld, Minn., Lenox, Iowa Falls, Williams, New Providence, and Riceville, Iowa. Friends were from New Providence, Hubbard, Nevada, Roland, Ellsworth and Colo, Iowa.

Harry Wolford was born May 5, 1879 in Peoria, Illinois and passed away March 24, 1969 in Story City Memorial Hospital at the age od 89 years, 10 months, 19 days. He had been ill for one year and 8 months.

Harry was the son of Caroline Scott Wolford who was born in Dillon, Illinois, and William Martin Wolford, who was born in North River Mills, W. V. Harry was the grandson of Harriet Alexander and Moses Scott and of Elizabeth Short and Peter Wolford.

With his parents, Harry came from Green Valley, Ill, to State Center, Iowa in 1854, when 14 years of age, and to Story County in 1898.

He was married to Malinda Adelia Grimm on November 28, 1901, at her parents' country home in Lincoln Township To this union were born four children: Mrs. Wilbur Eley (Myrtle), Zearing; Vernon Lawrence, deceased June 20, 1954; Mrs. Hubert Teig (Mildred), Roland; and Mrs. Charlie Fee (Audrey), Zearing.

There are 16 surviving grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Two grandchildren died in infancy.

In addition to his parents, four brothers, Frank, Edward, Charlie, Albert and two sister, Florence Wolford Fisher and Emma Wolford Leonard, preceded him in death.

The deceased taught school for a time before farming in Story County. He was a member of the Methodist Church and active in church work, served as Sunday School Superintendent for more than 15 years and taught Sunday School classes. He was a scoutmaster for six years. He was township clerk for many years, and served as township assessor. As a member of the Pacific Masonic Lodge he gave his time to various other community organizations.
