Stone Funeral Held Monday Forenoon

Colo, Sept. 7--Funeral services for John Stone, 35, Colo man, who died at the Deaconess hospital, Marshalltown late Friday afternoon, from injuries received when thrown beneath a runaway team two days before, were held from the Evangelical church here Monday morning at 10:00, Rev. Park E. Miller in charge.John Sherman Stone, was born June 28, 1898 in Polk county and died Sept. 2, 1927 at the age of 29 years, 2 months and 5 days.
He grew to manhood in this and surrounding counties and was united in marriage to Miss Hazel Houser, June 2, 1917 at Marshalltown, Iowa. To this union were born 3 children, Leona, Virginia and Wayne. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three children, also his father, Thomas Stone and two brothers, Marion and Homer of Colo, three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Stone of Rhodes, Mrs. Viola Homer of State Center, Mrs. Florence Backous of Rhodes, and aged grandmother, Mrs. Mariah Digby of Altoona, besides a host of friends and relatives. Mr. Stone was well-known and dearly loved.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blair of Tama; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Whitmore of Forest City; Mr. and Mrs. James Hambley of Northwood, Mr and Mrs. Furley Stone of Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Backous of Rhodes; Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Homer of State Center; MR and Mrs. Chas. Houser and Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hauser of Albion; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Mulanix, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Myres, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Oglevie, all of Nevada, Mr. Harold Hauser of Bromley, Mr. Steve Whitmore of Liberty neighborhood; Mr. Orland Whitmore of Forest City; Mr. Sherman Stone of Adel, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stone and Mr. and Mrs. George Digby of Des Moines; Mr. John Myers of Maxwell; Mrs. Noriah Digby of Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Borton and daughter Rena of Bangor, J. F. Olglevie of Nevada.
The pallbearers were Frank Settle, George Bloomberg, Jess Day, Bert Bloomberg, Harold Bloomberg and George Weuve.
Those in charge of the flowers were: Luella Greiner, Dorothy Bruener, Cordellia Apperman, Dorothy and Margaret Robinson, Selma Weuve. Interment was in Peoria cemetery.
The floral tribute was very large and beautiful, showing the high esteem in which he was held among his friends.
