Farmer Died at His Home South of Nevada

Funeral services for Tom Skola, 63, who lived on the Robison farm south of Nevada, were held Monday afternoon, one o'clock at the home and two o'clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater. Rev. E. R. Rorem had charge of the services and read the twenty-third Psalm for the scripture reading.

Mrs. Herman Hegberg and Miss Edna Houge had charge of the many beautiful floral offerings. The Riis quartette sang two songs "Where the Years of Eternity Roll" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The song "Good Night and Good Morning" was sung by Mesdames M. S. Heggen and A. L. Peterson.

The pall bearers were: Ole Storing, J. C. Ersland, Harold Ersland, Matt and Eli Eikelson and Everett Twit.

Gifts of money to the missions was presented by the following: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Ersland, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ersland, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Twit, Matt, Eli and Miss Semelia Mikelson, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Storing, Mr. and Mrs. Manly Knutson, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Severson of Ellsworth and Tom Anfinson of Nevada.

Tom Skola was born of a farm near Slater, August 21, 1875 and died at his home near Nevada, Nov. 18, 1938, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 27 days. His parents were Tollef and Kristie Skola. He was confirmed at the age of 15 in the Lincoln church by Rev. H. C. Holm.

His marriage to Mrs. Celia Thorson* took place March 18, 1920 in Des Moines. They made their home on a farm one mile east of Slater until 1927 when they moved on a farm south of Cambridge. In 1933 they moved to a farm near Nevada, their present home. He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife and four children, Donald, Dorothy, Kristie and Mildred, also three step daughters, Mrs. Henry Thompson of near Ames, Mrs. Ray Townsend and Mrs. Harold Beal both of near Nevada, two brothers Pete Skola of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Henry Skola of Slater, two sisters, Mrs. Will Baker of Ames and Mrs. L. J. Anfinson of Huxley and a host of relatives.

He was confirmed in the Lincoln church at Slater at the age 15 by Rev. Holm. He was a devoted husband and father and a successful farmer. His quiet, unassuming ways and his kindly smile will be greatly missed.

Heggen and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson all of Ames, Mrs. Burton Halverson of Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Manley Halverson of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Severson, both of Ellsworth, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson and Mrs. Malinda Thompson all of Dunbar, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chader of Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. L. J. Anfinson, Mr. and Mrs. John Anfinson and son, both of Huxley; and Mr. J. L. Reinertson of Kelley.
