CLAIRE GIBBS

Funeral services for Claire Gibbs, 67, of Rhodes will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home, Baxter, with Rev. Nancy Nickell officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill in Marshalltown.

Gibbs was born on June 25, 1905 in Hubbard and was raised and educated in the Chapin, New Providence and Nevada areas. He has been a resident of Rhodes since 1944 where he was engaged in the trucking and carpenter business. He retired in 1971.

He was a member of the Rhodes Methodist Church, Masonic Eben Lodege 466 AF and AM, 100F 16 Crocker Encampment 100F 31.

He is survived by his son Richard F. Gibbs of Rhodes, daughter Mrs. David (Sharon) Ward of Cedar Rapids and Miss Diane Mae Gibbs of Des Moines, six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Ellis of Orland, Calif. and Mrs. Lois Fry of Rome City, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father, I. O. Gibbs, his mother, Francis Welch and one sister. His wife is Adria White. They were married May 18, 1928.
