DEATHS
Mrs. Lewis H. Monson
Funeral services for Mrs.. Lewis Monson were held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, at two o'clock Wednesday, Oct. 18. Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiated.
Mrs. Tim Yantis sang "Near to the Heart of God" and "How Great Thou Art." Mrs. Harold S. Olson was organist.
Pallbearers were Robert Nelson, Eugene Nelson, Roy Gaard, Stanley Boggs, James Peterson and Arnold Johnson. Interment was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Agate Marie (Mary) Shaw was born to Ole and Caroline Shaw at Alta, Iowa on Aug. 3, 1891. She died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Monday morning, Oct. 16, after a brief illness. She was 81 years of age.
Most of her early life was spent in South Dakota. The family then returned to Iowa settling in Belmond.
On July 15, 1916 she was united in marriage to Lewis H. Monson of Story City at Clarion, Iowa. All their married life, with the exception of the first two years at Spencer, was spent in Story City.
She is survived by her husband, and three children Genevieve Monson of Belmond, Herbert Monson of Ames and Mrs. Jesse (Marian) Solyst of Story City, three grand daughters, Mrs. Owen Sampson of Ames, Barbara and Gayle Solyst, Story City, three sisters Miss Jennie Shaw and Mrs. Carrie Nelson of Belmond and Mrs. Ruth Boggs of Clarion, two brothers Lewis Shaw of Eagle Grove and Oscar Shaw of Rowan, two half sisters, Mrs. Clara Harris of Clarion and Mrs. Mildred Harris of Eagle Grove and one half brother James Shaw of Story City.
Three sisters and her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Monson was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and an honorary member of the Ladies Aid.
