Newspaper source and date unknown. November 1944. "Tragic Death of Sister of Nevada Man Last Night. - Mrs. Pearl Mleynek, 41, of Earlham, sister of Clifford Byers of 537 Eighth street, Nevada, of Mabel De Hoet of Ames and Violet Byers of Maxwell, was killed last night about 6:30 when a double header Rock Island freight train crashed into the automobile she was driving about a half mile east of Earlham. Mrs. Mleynek, operator of a beauty shop in Earlham, and her husband, Charles P. Mleynek live about five miles southeast of Earlham and she daily drove over 'Cemetery Crossing' where she was killed. She is survived by her husband, by two daughters, Mrs. Dale Gabby of Earlham and one son at home. She is also survived by seven brothers and two sisters. The former are Mike Byers of Mitchellville, Loren Byers of Los Angeles, Calif., Wilbur of the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific, John, Jr. of Mingo, Charley of Mitchelville, Orville of Bondurant and Clifford Byers of Nevada. Her surviving sisters are Mrs. Mabel De Hoet of Ames and Mrs. Violet Byers of Maxwell. Mr. Byers left last night for Earlham."
