THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday August 9, 1928, page 1. "GEORGE LINK, SR. PASSES AWAY - George Link, Sr., who had been ill for the past two years, passed away early Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Cairns, south of Maxwell. Mr. Link is survived by his wife, six sons, and five daughters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon at the Loring church, conducted by Rev. C. G. Zeigler."

"GEORGE LINK, SR. - Funeral services for George Link Sr., who died Wednesday morning, august 8, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Cairns, south of Maxwell, were held from the Mt. Zion church at Loring, Friday afternoon. The pastor, Rev. C. G. Zeigler, assisted by Rev. H. D. Robinson, of Des Moines, conducted the services and burial was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery. The following obituary was read at the funeral service. John George Link. Son of Jacob and Christena Link, was born in Wittenburg, Germany, October 13, 1848, and departed this life August 8, 1928. At the age of seventy-nine years, nine months and twenty-five days. He was united in marriage to Christena Gerhing in May, 1869, and to this union were born fourteen children, eight sons and six daughters. The sons are: Martin, George, William, John and Leonard, of Maxwell, Charles, of Holstein, and Bert, of Collins. The daughters are: Mrs. Anna Cairns, Mrs. Viola Witmer, of Maxwell; Mrs. Clara Hawkins, of Collins, and Mrs. Katherine Miller, of Des Moines. The three children preceding their father in death are Mrs. Christena Morrison, who passed away March 12, 1921; Rose Ellen and an infant son. Mr. Link, with his wife and daughters, came to America in the year of 1871, residing in Philadelphia with an uncle and then came to Washington township, Polk County, Iowa, where he resided for thirty-eight years. In the year 1910 he and his family moved to Maxwell, where he has since lived with the exception of the last five weeks. He has been a most patient sufferer during the past two years of his life. Five weeks previous to his death, upon his request, he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Cairns, where he has been most tenderly cared for. He was converted and united with the Lutheran church in early life, later upon coming to America transferring his membership to the Evangelical church at Loring. He was a firm believer and faithful to his Master until called home. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, eleven children, twenty-seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. "His life work for us is ended, His trials forever are o'er; While surrounded by anxious loved ones, He passed to the other shore." - CARD OF THANKS - To our neighbors and friends, who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and following the death of our beloved husband and father, we desire to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation. Mrs. Geo. Link, Sr., and children."
