THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, September 9, 1926, page 1, column 5. "JACOB LINK. - Jacob Link was born in Leideingen, Germany, December 21, 1868, and passed away at the Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Friday morning, September 3, 1926, at the age of fifty-seven years, nine months and thirteen days. He came with his parents to the United States of America in 188_ (1880/1889?). They settled in Polk county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and has since resided, most of which time he lived in the neighborhood of Farrar. When he was eighteen years of age he was converted and united with the Methodist Protestant church, to which church he has been always faithful. He has served in many official rela__, being a trustee and member of the building board at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Margaret Dorfler February 18, 1892, at Des Moines. No children were born to them, but they took into their life and home a niece, Helen Bisher, when she was an infant and raised her to womanhood as their own daughter, who in turn has brightened their life by her obedient and devoted character. Deceased is survived by his widow who so kindly and faithfully cared for him through his long sickness. His stepmother, Mrs. August Bratke, who has taken the place of his mother, who died November 11, 1882. Mrs. Bratke had much of the care of his childhood and who by kindness and loving care endeared herself to him. Only a few weeks ago in remembering his mother, he repeated some of the prayers he had learned at her knee. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Will Link and Albert Link, of Maxwell; John Link, Mrs. T. H. Morrison, Mrs. Will Morrison and Mrs. Will Crabb, of Collins; Fred Link, of Farrar; Mrs. Ernest Niffennegger and Vernon Link, of Des Moines; and Mrs. John Wallen, of Ontario, Calif. One brother, Philip and two sisters, Mrs. Glen McCord and Miss Mabel Link, preceded him in death. His father also died ___….aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Link; thirty-six nephews and nieces, besides a community of friends to sorrow at his passing. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, September 5, at the Farrar Methodist Protestant church, conducted by Rev. C. R. Green, assisted by Rev. C. J. Nutt. Interment was in the Farrar cemetery." "Card of Thanks. - We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors for the beautiful floral offerings and sympathies during the illness and death of our beloved one. Mrs. Margaret Link and daughter Helen, and relatives."

A felling of sadness and a sense of great loss pervades the community at the passing of our friend and neighbor, Jacob Link. Mr. Link was a man who felt a personal responsibility in the welfare of every movement for the betterment of the neighborhood, his presence and help will be greatly missed by every one."
