THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, May 16, 1940, page 1, column 2. "OBITUARY - Effie Irene Link, wife of Leonard L. Link, was born in Maxwell, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1894, and passed away May 9, at the age of 45 years, 5 months and 8 days, after a lingering illness of 15 months. She was the daughter of Elmer E. and Prudence A. Weaver, both having preceded their daughter in death. At the early age of 14 years she was united with the Christian Church of Maxwell and later her membership was transferred to the Loring Evangelical Church of which she has been an ardent and faithful worker, holding a number of offices at the time of her death. On July 25, 1912, she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Link. To this union was born two sons, Clarence L. and Carl, the latter preceding his mother in death in 1930. Left to mourn her passing, beside her husband, are one son, Clarence, a grandson, Larry; 3 sisters, Mabel, of Cedar Rapids; Alice, of Des Moines, and Ila, of Oklahoma City; 3 brothers, Vern, of Cedar Rapids; Earl, of Clinton and Fred, of Huxley; besides a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of friends around this community, where she has lived all her life. One brother, Glenn, passed away in infancy. Her merry smile will be missed by everyone who grew to know and love her by the cheerful and helpful deeds she did for all around her. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Loring Evangelical Church with the Rev. La Favre, of Marshalltown, in charge, assisted by the Rev. P. R. Epley. Mrs. J. B. Scott and Mrs. C. I. Kirk sang three duets, "An Evening Prayer," "Good Night and Good Morning" and "God Will Take Care of You," accompanied by Mrs. Ned Pearson at the piano. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. George Schulz and Mrs. James Ballard. The pallbearers were John Gibney, James Ballard, George and Richard Schulz, Victor Partridge and Frank Dyer, Jr. Interment in the Mt. Zion cemetery. Relatives and friends from a distance were Mrs. Mabel York and son, Alvin, Ella Weaver, Mrs. Jessie Carmichael and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Payne, of Cedar Rapid; Mr. and Mrs. Ear __ __ __ __, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. K--, of Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Friedel, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Alice Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Al Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. John Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Randolph and Mrs. Chas. Beal and daughters, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wearmouth, of Runnells; Mrs. Mary Luing, of Collins, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weaver and family, of Huxley."
