THE DES MOINES REGISTER, February 4, 1997, page 4. Obituary: "Melvin Isaiah Kimberley, 80, of Maxwell died of cancer Saturday at his winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Farrar United Methodist Church, of which he had been a member. Burial will be at Peoria Cemetery in Maxwell. Mr. Kimberley was born in Jasper County and lived in the Collins-Maxwell area all his life. He was a retired farmer and cattle feeder and had been a member of Polk County Cattleman's Association and the Bondurant-Farrar school boards. He was also a charter member of the Story County Izaak Walton League and a Washington Township trustee. Surviving are his wife, Eleanore; two daughters, Betty Byers (wife of Dan Byers) of Maxwell and Carolyn Young of Houston; a brother, Harry of Maxwell; four sisters, Helen Karpinski of Sussex, Wis., Ruth McGinnis of Marshalltown, Alice Kimberley of Lawrence, Kan., and Mary Ann Myers of Shell Rock; and four grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m."
