Rites Wednesday For J. P. Booher Held In Nevada
NEVADA--Funeral services for John P. Booher were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Thursday, Aug. 7, at 2 p. m. with the Rev. W. R. Tuttle officiating. Many beautiful floral offerings surrounded the casket.
Two songs "Rock of Ages" and "No Night There" were sung by Mrs. Lawrence Pevestorf, accompanied by Mrs. Dan Huhn at the organ.
The casket bearers were Robert Beemer, William Beemer, Gail Booher, Harold Holder, Wayne Myers and James Ness.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
John Palmer Booher was born in Story county, four and one-half miles south of Nevada, on Feb. 14, 1867 to Jacob and Sarah Booher. He lived in and around Nevada most of his life where he attended the Nevada public schools.
In August of 1888 he was united in marriage to Ella May Elzy and to this union six children were born. After the death of Mrs. Booher, John was married to Mrs. Icie Briley in August, 1919. There were no children born to this family, but his five stepchildren were cared for as his own.
Mr. Booher, during his active years was a well contractor, in and around Nevada, with the exception of a few years when he with is family moved to Crookston, Minn. Mrs. Icie Briley Booher who died in February 1948.
At the age of eighty-one John Booher was married to Elizabeth Laird on Jan. 18, 1949, who survives him.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, two wives, who had been helpful companions to him through the years of his more active life. There were also two children preceding him in death, Glenn Dale Booher, Anna Fay Palomo and one step daughter Ruby Richardson.
Surviving are four children: William Gale of Nevada, Mary Beemer of Lakota, Ruth Hammel of Kingston, N. Y., Ella Ness of Elk Point, S. Dak. There are also four step children: Elva Shalley of Kansas City, Mo., Sadie Graves of Duluth, Minn., John Briley of Moline, Illinois and Jo Briley of Nevada. He also leaves in his passing nine grandchildren, and fifteen step-grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: John Palmer Booher married (1) Ellen May Elzy 20 February 1889 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. He married (2) Icie Leah (Householder) Bierle on 11 July 1919 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa and he married (3) Elizabeth A. (Rood) Laird on 18 January 1949.
