Rites Were Held For Homer T. White Here Wednesday

NEVADA--Funeral services for Homer T. White were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Lewis Crombaugh of Marengo officiating.

Two songs were sung by Fred McLain, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson at the organ.

The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Pauline Olson and Mrs. Isabelle Bamford.

Casket bearers included Harvey Collins, Delbert Dickinson, Hubert Hefflefinger, Irvin Williams, Arthur Sarsfield and William Shickell.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Homer T., son of Samuel and Mary White, was born on a farm southeast of Nevada Aug. 5, 1881, and passed away at his home Aug. 4, 1958 at 9:10 a. m., at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 30 days. He grew to manhood on the home farm attending the rural school at Hickory Grove and farmed with his father a number of years.

He was united in marriage to Awilda F. Kirkendall Sept. 21, 1904 at the country home of her parents. To this union one child was born Donald K. of Rural Route 1, Nevada.

The family moved to Nevada, where Homer was a local business man for a number of years. Later they moved to the farm where he farmed until five years ago, when he was stricken with ill health.

He is survived by his wife; one son; one brother Turl; four granddaughters; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Hallie and Elizabeth; and two brothers, Samuel and Ade.

For a number of years he serve don the board of the Farmer's Grain Co., and the Colo Telephone Co. On Sept. 21, 1954, Awilda and Homer celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.
