MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday August 11, 1966, page 1, "JAY HARMON PASSES AWAY - Jay Harmon, 79, a life long resident of the Maxwell community passed away at his home south of Maxwell at 10:15 p.m., Saturday, after a lingering illness. Jay, the son of Henry and Emma Harmon was born on December 29, 1886 and departed this life on August 6, 1966. He is survived by his wife Ethel and two sons, Harold and James; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Hansen. There are also four stepchildren, Irving Bell of Santa Anita, Calif.; Mrs. Estherlene [Estelene] Dawson of Ankeny; Melvin Bell of Maxwell and Howard Bell of Des Moines. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ankeny Baptist Church in Ankeny, with Rev. John Poison, assisted by Rev. A. D. Mohr in charge. Raymond Hitz, Don Urice and Judy Smeltzer furnished the music. In charge of the floral arrangements, were Eula Baugher, Ruth Abuhl and Virginia Houston. Coopers Funeral Home of Maxwell were in charge of the services. Casket bearers were Don Price, Ellis Abuhl, Raymond Hitz, Dudley Davis, Roy Baugher and Dick Anderson. Burial was in Peoria Cemetery."
