Hold Huxley Rites For John Tesdall
Huxley, July 7--Funeral services for John Tesdall, 68, who died suddenly Saturday were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Chelsvig, brother-in-law and sister of the deceased, and from Palestine Lutheran church Tuesday, July 6.
A short service at the home led by Rev. Jacobson preceded rites at the Lutheran church. DeWayne Wee was at the organ and Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang two solos. The Rev. Bueland gave comforting remarks. Burial was in the family lot in Palestine cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Nervig, Porter Chelsvig, Milton Tesdall, Roy Chelsvig, Mervin Tesdall and Herman Fjelland. Many floral offerings were given in addition to gifts of money for missions in memory of the deceased.
John Tesdall, son of Ole Tesdall and Betsey Sheldahl Tesdall, was born April 6, 1880, at the Tesdall homestead southeast of Huxley and died suddenly on July 3, 1948, at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames.
He was one of a family of five sons and four daughters. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by two brothers, Eric A. Tesdall of Ames and Martin L. Tesdall of Huxley, and two sisters, Mrs. Ole (Margaret) Chelsvig and Mrs. Charley (Anna) Reinertson of Des Moines, also Burton Tesdall who was taken into the Tesdall home when two days old when he was left motherless and raised as one of the family. A large number of other relatives and friends mourn his passing.
John Tesdall was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and has been a lifelong member of the Palestine congregation. He has made his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Chelsvig.
