Levina Chelsvig

Funeral services for Levina Chelsvig of Huxley were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Kelley Bethany Lutheran Church. Officiating minister was Rev. Mark Gravrock. The organist, Mrs. Marge Accola, accompanied Orlin Severson, soloist.

Pallbearers were Steve Ryan, Tim Ryan, John Chelsvig, Dick Fawcett, Tom Chelsvig and Bob Ryan. Interment was in Bethany Cemetery rural Kelley.

Levina Chelsvig was born April 12, 1896 to Ed and Susan Ryan* in Lisbon, Ill. She passed away April 11, 1979 one day prior to her 83rd birthday at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church.

On Feb. 14, 1920 she was united to Porter Chelsvig. To this union were born one daughter, Stella Ryan of Ankeny, Iowa; four sons, Robert of Enid, Okla., Clyde of Boone, Iowa, Ronald of Huxley, Iowa and one son Orvis who died in 1943. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Rgg; one sister, Bertha Yttrevold. Levina was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the A.L.C.

Survivors include her husband Porter; one daughter; three sons; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three sisters, Hannah Berhow of Ames, Iowa, Edith Storing of Hamilton, New York, and Josie Hegberg of Irving, Texas; one brother Clarence of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, nephews and many friends.
