S. Clark Elwell Funeral Services Are Held Here

Funeral services for S. Clark Elwell, 1307 Lincolnway, who died at his home Saturday, Dec. 31 at 1 P. M., following a year's illness, were from Ryan Funeral Home this morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Donald Gruber of the Nevada E. U. B. church officiating.

Lowell Shickell sang "Does Jesus Care" with Miss Beeula Settle accompanying at the organ.

A second service was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Methodist church in La Porte City, Ia. with the Rev. Don R. Corrick, officiating, Clifford Burr accompanied by Mrs. Burr sang two solos at the La Porte City rites.

The casket bearers were all friends of the deceased at La Porte City: Ray Anton, Wesley Flemming, Roy Hawkins, Roy Hubbard, Harlan Hagen and Ralph Nichols.

Committal was in the Westview cemetery in La Porte City.

The deceased was born in La Porte City, Sept. 2, 1884, a son of Frank and Harriett Cooper Elwell and had lived in Blackhawk and Story counties his entire life. He was a retired farmer. He was married Oct. 3, 1932 to Hazel Ludwig, who survives him.

He leaves two step-daughters, Mrs. Ferne Hobson and Mrs. Neva Borts, both of Zearing. He also leaves four sisters Miss Lucy Elwell, Mrs. Mabel Powers and Mrs. Eunice Hager of La Porte City and Mrs. Pearle Thorpe of Las Cruces, N. M. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Iris and Hauren Hobson of Zearing.
