Rites Held Tuesday For Norvel R. Mills
Funeral services for Norvel R. Mills, 920 1/2 C avenue, Nevada, were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 4 at 2 o'clock from the Ryan Funeral Home with Elder O. P. Jones officiating.
The music was furnished by the male quartet of the Seventh Day Adventist church with Mrs. Otho Kirk at the organ. Miss Jo Ann Chapman sang "God Understands," accompanied by Jacqueline Carlson.
The casket bearers were Elmer Anderson, Frank Arnett, Isaac Hornbacher, Dan Hornbacher, Paul Olson and Walter Thomas.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
The deceased was born at Liberty Center, Iowa, Dec. 2, 1877, son of Elias and Elizabeth Mills. A retired carpenter, he had lived in Story county for the past 46 years. He was married Sept. 8, 1898 at Lacona, Iowa to Clara May Vincent who preceded him in death in 1954.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Lyons and Mrs. Grace Jones, both of Nevada and by two half brothers and a half sister and by two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Mills died at his home Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p. m. He had been in failing health for three and a half years.
