ROY VINSEL

ZEARING--Funeral services for Roy Charles Vinsel held at the E. U. B. church Nov. 24, with the Rev. Darald Eller officiating.

Casket bearers were Chester Couser, Dale Cook, Delos Cerka, Fred Varnum, Lewis Phillips and Troy Chance.

A quartette of Dale Johnston, Glen McBride, Eldon Crain and Paul Lundy sang, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Lund at the organ. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Vaughn Freeman and Mrs. I. S. Madison.

Services were directed by the Brouhard Funeral Home.

Life Sketch

Roy Charles Vinsel of Frank and Mary Bainter Vinsel, was born at Adamsville, Ohio on Dec. 22, 1880 and died at his home in Zearing Nov. 24, 1957 at the age of 76 years, 11 months and two days.

Mr. Vinsel came to Iowa from Ohio in 1905 and has spent most of the ensuing years in and around Zearing.

On Jan. 5, 1910 he was united in marriage to Blanche Holcomb. To this union four children were born. One son, Clement, died in infancy.

The children who survived are two sons, Kenneth and Karroll of Zearing and one daughter, Amelia (Mrs. Harry Hasler) of Mason City, Iowa. Other survivors include two brothers, Clyde of Zanesville, Ohio and Bruce of Adamsville, Ohio, several nieces and nephews and six grandchildren.

Mr. Vinsel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Glen and one sister Lutie Vinsel Rutledge.

Mr. Vinsel was baptized as an infant in the New Hope Lutheran church near Adamsville, Ohio. He became a member of this church, then known as Bethel United Evangelical church, by letter on Jan. 18, 1910. He has had almost 48 years membership in this church.

During the past two years he has worked as assisted to the custodian of the Zearing community school. His health had declined during the past two years and about two months ago he had to retire from his work because of ill health.
