HARRY LEE LYON

CAMBRIDGE -- Funeral services for Harry Lyon, who died at the Story County Hospital in Nevada on Nov. 20, 1957 at the age of 77 years, were held at the age of 77 years, were held from the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines on Nov. 23 at 10 a. m., of which he was a charter member. The Rev. Frank Smith had charge of the service, assisted by the Rev. Le Roy Sargent. Mr. Lyon also attended the Shipley Gospel Tabernacle.

Beverly Wettland played the organ, accompanying O. L. Birkinbine as he sang "God Leads His Dear Children Along" and "Beyond the Sunset." Fae Goosic and Marjorie Sargent had charge of the floral offerings.

Casket bearers were neighbors, Wayne Kinyon, Marion Thomas, Doyle Huff, Basil Frye, Cecil Goosic and Albert Pritchard. Burial was at the I. O. O. F. cemetery at Liberty Center, Iowa.

Life Sketch

Harry Lee Lyon was born in Warren county Aug. 6, 1880 to William E. and Virginia Lyon. He attended school at Milo, Iowa, taught school for a while in Warren county. He farmed at Liberty Center, Hartford, Clive (just west of Des Moines) for 16 years and at Cambridge 18 years.

On Jan. 21, 1902 he was united in marriage to Anna Barger and to this union two sons, Keith and Eldon were born. Mr. and Mrs. Lyon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 5 years ago at the farm home north of Cambridge.

Surviving are the two sons, Keith and Eldon, their wives, five grandchildren, Joan, Merlin, Ronald and Barbara all of Cambridge, two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Mary) Baker of Liberty Center, Mrs. Gertie Brewer of Oregon City, Ore., many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Lyon was preceded in death by his wife and one brother.

Dinner was served for the family and friends at the home of the sister, Mrs. Ray Baker at Liberty Center.
