EDWARD TWIT
Funeral services for Edward Twit were held Saturday afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home at 1:00 o'clock and 1:30 at the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater.
Rev. Leo Bjorlie was in charge. Robert Weeks sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me", accompanied by Mrs. Oliver Newman at the organ.
Casket bearers were Harold Ersland, Charles Raker, Elmer Torgerson, Wilbur Thornwall, Frank Roznos, Jr. and Wm. H. Kraus Jr. Burial was in the Slater Municipal cemetery.
Obituary
Edward Twit was born on a farm north of the Palestine church near Huxley, Sept. 15, 1881. He died Oct. 9, 1957 at the age of 76 years and 25 days.
He was the son of Thomas Twit and Hannah Sheldahl Twit. On June 26, 1923 he married Elsie Danielson of Hendricks, Minn.
He lived in Story county all his life, farming until 1937, when he moved to Slater and operated a portable mill until his health failed. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church.
He leaves his wife, Elsie, one son, Wilmer of Cedar Rapids, three daughters, Mrs. R. E. Hill (Margaret of Avon Lake), Mrs. L. W. Wilson (Kathryn of Ankeny) and Mrs. Rodney Krause (Florence of Alter) and eight grandchildren. Two small sons preceded him in death.
He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. John Freeland of St. Louis Park, Minn., Mrs. M. C. Berhow of Slater and Mrs. Ervin Helleckson of Starbuck, Minn., and one brother, Thomas of St. Louis Park, Minn.
Relatives from a distance attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Twit and Mrs. and Mrs. John Freeland, St. Louis Park, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Phil Slovik and Mr. and Mrs. Reno Danielson, Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hofland, Esko, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Neuse, Diane and Danny, Hendricks, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Twit, Carroll, Iowa.
