CHARLES RAHFELDT

ZEARING -Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the United Brethren Evangelical church in Zearing for Charles Rahfeldt with Rev. D. D. Eller officiating. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Thompson, Claude Manning, Bernard Howard, Bill Brown Sr., Edward Johnson and Wilbur Eley. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. K. L. Cerka, Mrs. Bernard Howard and Mrs. Carl Thompson. Mrs. Paul Johns accompanied the quartet, Dale Johnson, Eldon Crain, Paul Lundy and Glen McBride.

LIFE SKETCH

Charles Rahfeldt, son of Albert and Sarah Rahfeldt, was born near Zearing, Iowa on October 1, 1893 and passed away at the St. Thomas Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown on August 13, 1957, where he was taken six days earlier. Death came at the age of 63 years, 10 month and 13 days. Mr. Rahfeldt spent his entire life farming in the community. He retired five years ago and moved to his home in Zearing.

He was united in marriage on August 16, 1916 to Isabelle Erickson. To this union were born six children. Preceding him in death were his wife who died on January 10, 1951, one daughter Wilma Joan, who died in infancy, and his mother who passed away April 9, 1916.

Survivors include one son, Bill Rahfeldt of Hubbard; four daughters, Mrs. Fern Stackhouse of Des Moines, Mrs. Lorraine Pille of Marshalltown, Mrs. Gladys Manful of Montour, and Mrs. Doris Myking of Fairmont, Minn. Also surviving are his father, who is 93 years of age; four brothers and three sisters, twenty-two grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
