Final Services Held For Guy W. Mills

McCALLSBURG: Funeral services for Guy W. Mills were held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Presbyterian church in McCallsburg with the Rev. D. R. Jafvert in charge. Burial was in the McCallsburg cemetery.

The casket bearers were E. R. Morris, William Tett, Clyde Baumgardner, John Hauptly, Ralph Butler and Elmer Newgaard.

The music was furnished by Mrs. F. E. Nail and Catherine Craig who sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Herbert Eddie, organist.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Henry Mehlow and Mrs. John Hauptly.

Guy Wilson Mills, son of Dr. Daniel Guy Mills and Sarah Linn Mills was born in Jasper county in 1884. He came with his parents from Iowa City while young and attended the McCallsburg school. He was a member of its first graduating class.

He married Leila Peck in 1906. To them were born three sons, Carroll, of Melbourne, Lawrence of Marshalltown and Willis of McCallsburg. He was engaged for a time in the newspaper business, also in farming. However, he spent much time in the plumbing trade, from which he had retired. He also served as Story county coroner.

He was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America, and was a communicant member of the Presbyterian church of McCallsburg.

He is survived by his wife and three sons, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Althea Knudtson [should be Altha Knutson] and a brother Edward of Knoxville.

Among out of town relatives at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Mills and son Wayne of Melbourne, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mills and son Allan of Marshalltown, Mrs. Althea Knudtson and son Mervin of Bricelyn, Minn.

Chester Knudtson, Ames, George Knudtson, Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Andrew Verlo, Woden, Mrs. Emerson, Wells, Minn., Mrs. Mary Goss of Blairstown, Mrs. Rose Peck, Nevada, Dr. and Mrs. Earl Smith, Slater, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Manning and Penny Sue of Conrad.

Many were present from other towns including Melbourne, Nevada, Ft. Dodge, Slater, Woden, Ames, Marshalltown, Rake, Collins, Zearing, West Union. Also from St. Anthony, Eldora, Boone, Colo, Popejoy, Blairstown, Roland, also Bricelyn, Wells, Minneapolis and Albert Lea, Minn.
