Rites Here For Jerry Lemons On Wednesday
Funeral services for Jerry M. Lemons, 68, were held from Ryan Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Roy Donnellson of Princeton, Mo., officiating assisted by the Rev. Leonard Franz of the Nevada Christian Tabernacle Assembly of God church.
Mrs. Dan Huhn, organist, played a number of appropriate selections.
The casket bearers were Floyd Black, Darrell Dodd, Don Carsrud, Burnell Hagen, Bernard Haynes and Virgil Haynes.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Jerry Maire Lemons was born Aug. 4, 1888 in Kentucky to Union and Sarah Lemons. At an early age he came with his parents to Mercer county, Missouri where he grew to manhood and lived until he and his family moved to Nevada in April 1943.
On May 8, 1915, he was united in marriage to Ada Blanche Hartley in Princeton, Mo. And to this union was born twelve children. Four preceded him in death. Eight survived him, four sons and four daughters, and his wife, Ada.
Surviving are four sons, Wayne of Bettendorf, William of Des Moines, Ray of Nevada and Duane of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Maxine) Eggland, Mrs. Wendell (Elaine) Vinzant and Mrs. Art (Ethel) Hill of Nevada and Mrs. Loren (Gwendolyn) Moss of Princeton, Mo. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Netty McCartney of Rock Island, Ill, Mrs. Maxine Roberson of Stephens, Ark., and Mary Bollier of Berniece, La., and two brothers, Leslie Lemons of Gillette, Wyo. and Fred of Emerson, Iowa. He also leaves nephews and an aunt and an uncle.
On coming to Nevada he was employed by Iowa State College until forced to resign because of illness, which finally caused his death.

Relatives and friends from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Steve McCartney, Rock Island, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lemmons and Jerry of Emerson, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Jones and Susan of Emerson, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Lewis and Leon of Essex, Mr. and Mrs. Ardis Hartley of Glenwood, Mrs. Gladys Ward of Glenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rollins and family of Allerton, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Scott of Powersville, Mo., and friends from a number of surrounding towns.
