Last Rites For Elmous W. Samson Held on Wednesday

Funeral services for Mr. Elmous W. Samson, 69, resident of Story county for over 40 years, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Wednesday at 1:00 p. m. with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.

Mrs. Dan Huhn was at the organ playing at the opening and the closing of the service and accompanying Miss Neva Paulson of Ames, who sang "The Lord's Prayer" at the close of the service.

The casket bearers were William Buck, Ted Clark, Earl Prescott, Archie Otto, Virgil Swarm and Floyd Wycoff.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Elmous Willard Samson, son of Willard and Sarah Samson, was born Aug. 19, 1887 in Homer, Ill. His death occurred at the Story County Hospital in Nevada on Saturday, Dec. 29, 1956 after a short illness.

Elmous grew to manhood in Illinois; he was united in marriage to Bessie Covert in the year 1914. Although their home was not blessed with children; they reared Mrs. Melba Paulson of Ames and Gerald Beckley of Nevada, who mourn his passing.

Three brothers also survive; Pearl of Homer, Ill., Keesee of Nevada and Charlie of Story City. His wife preceded him in death in 1945.

During the past 42 years Elmous has been a resident of Nevada and Story county. Mr. Samson was known as a steady worker, unassuming in his various activities, always demonstrating his interest in the things which go to make a better community where he lived.
