AREA DEATHS

ESTER OLAVA ASKLAND

Ester Olava Askland, 81, a longtime resident of Nevada, died Friday morning at Story County Hospital. She had been a patient there for the past week.

Mrs. Askland was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Erickson. She was born in Story County on Oct. 6, 1891 and lived virtually all of her life in the area, including the past 62 years in Nevada. She was married to Einer Askland of Nevada on Oct. 27, 1910.

She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Askland is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Dooley of Nevada; a sister Jennie Erickson of Ames; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald; and five brothers.
