THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, May 4, 1939, page 1. "Mrs. Artie Viola Godby, daughter of Jerome and Sarah Chadwick, was born in Keokuk County, Iowa on June 24, 1877 and died at her home in Iowa Center, Iowa, on April 24, 1939; aged 61 years, 10 months and 2 days. Death came as a release from a lingering illness. She lived with her parents until her marriage to John Ulin in 1894. Seven children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. Her husband died in 1909. On November 18, 1915 she was united in marriage to Wm. Godby at Oskaloosa. Coming to Iowa Center she lived here until her death. No children were born to this union. Mrs. Godby was a member of the Evangelical Church. She was a faithful wife and a good mother. Surviving are: her husband, Wm. Godby; four daughters, Mrs. Mitchell (Florence) Flactiff, Mitchelville, Iowa; Mrs. Leon (Opal) Rice, Jefferson, South Dakota; Miss Burdock, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Ralph (Amy) Brood, of Quincy, Michigan and one son; Orville Ulin, of Glen Rock, N. J., two brothers: Clarence Chadwick, Des Moines, Iowa; Andrew Chadwick, Hedrick, Iowa and two sisters: Mrs. Rose Okey, Oskaloosa, Iowa and Mrs. Lizzie Lundy, Des Moines. Also a large number of other relatives and many friends also mourn her death. Funeral services were held from the Evangelical Church in Iowa Center on Thursday, April 27, 1939 at 2 p. m., the Rev. Judson T. Perkins, of Maxwell in charge. Interment was made in Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center, Iowa."
