THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, December 23, 1909. "MRS. WILLIAM GODBY - Maud Hand was born near Iowa Center, October 21, 1885. She grew to womanhood in that vicinity and in the year 1900 she was united in marriage to William Godby. She was the mother of three children, all living. She was taken sick a number of weeks ago with typhoid fever and was unable to successfully overcome the disease, passing away on Friday, December 19, 1909. The funeral services were held in the church at Iowa Center, Sunday at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. Davis, and the body was laid to rest in the Iowa Center cemetery. Mrs. Godby was of a cheerful and lovable disposition and had a large circle of friends, who extend their sympathy to the bereaved husband and the little motherless children. Mrs. Godby is also survived by her parents."
