Sudden Death of Former Preacher Of McCallsburg

Special to the Journal.
McCallsburg, Aug. 9--Rev. E. G. Beyers [should be Beyer], former pastor of the Presbyterian church of this place, died very suddenly at Pasadena, California, according to word received from his daughter, Ruth Virginia, by Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Reid of this place.

Rev. Beyers was taken ill the evening of July 9 of acute indigestion and died July 24.

Rev. Beyers had taken dinner that evening with a minister friend in Pasadena and was taken ill shortly afternoon. After being sick a week and a half be became unconscious which he only came out of the evening he died.

Rev. Beyers had gone to California last fall and liked it so well had his plans made to leave for Iowa City, July 10, the day after he took sick, after his daughter, Ruth Virginia, aged 12, who was making her home with an aunt at New Sharon.

Besides the daughter, Ruth Virginia, he was survived by a step-son, Dr. Lloyd Borland of Los Angeles, Cal.

It will be remembered Mrs. Beyers died April 26, 1920, in Chicago, following an operation. Ruth Virginia will leave the latter part of the month with her sister, Mrs. Lloyd Borland, who has come out from California to take her home with her.

Rev. Beyer and family had many friends here whose sympathy goes out to the little daughter, who has been left motherless and fatherless.
