McCALLSBURG

The community received a sad shock Thursday when word was received here Mrs. Beyers [should be Beyer], wife of Rev. E. G. Beyers, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here, had died Tuesday while on the operating table in a Chicago hospital. A letter was received by W. H. Reid from Mrs. Beyers son, Lloyd Borland, stating the above fact, and that her health came very unexpectedly. Rev. and Mrs. Beyers were married while he held the pastorate here. They had one daughter, little Ruth Virginia, who was born here and was five years old last October. After leaving here they moved to Cedar Rapids where they bought them a home and Rev. Beyers was a supply pastor. Last year he accepted a charge at Napinee, Ind., about a hundred miles from Chicago, where Mrs. Beyers held many social responsibilities along the church line. Mrs. Beyers was a lovely woman, loved by all who knew her. The friends of the Beyers family are numbered by those who knew them. The news of her death came as a great shock, as none of her friends here knew she was expecting to undergo an operation. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the husband, daughter and son in this their great sorrow.
