Funeral Services Held at Colo for Crim A. Gunder

Special to the Journal.
Colo, Dec. 28 -- Funeral services for the later Crim Allen Gunder, 69, were held from the Colo Methodist church at 2 p. m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, with the Rev. H. H. Proett, local pastor, assistd by the Rev. Keith Orr, in charge.

The many beautiful flowers were cared for by members of his Sunday school class. Music was furnished by James Lounsberry, soloist, who was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Mark Wilson. Pallbearers were C. C. Templeman, Ralph Thornton, Forest Horner, John Lounsberry, Ross White and Robert McIntosh.

Crimba Allen Gunder, son of Joseph and Mathilda Gunder, was born in Boone county, Ia., Oct. 30, 1871, and passed away near Colo on Dec. 19, 1940. He later moved with his parents to Ames, where they resided until 1882 when they moved to Des Moines where Crim attended Asbury Methodist church and Sunday school.

He was united in marriage to Miss Winona Rooker of Mitchellville, Ia., in 1892. They made their home in Des Moines for a few years and then moved to Nevada where Mr. Gunder was employed by Dr. Smith. Later moved to a farm near Zearing, where he spent his remaining years upon farms near McCallsburg and Colo.

Crim was converted in the gospel meeting held a Johnson Grove Methodist church during the time Rev. Elliott was in charge. When he moved to near Colo, his letter was transferred to the Colo Methodist church, where he had been a conscientious and faithful worker in the church for the past 12 years.

The loved ones left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife an adopted daughter, Mrs. Mae Nelson and two grandsons, Robert and Herbert Nelson, and foster son Howard Bailey, who came to live with Mr. and Mrs. Gunder from the home for orphans at Ottumwa at the age of eight years, where he lived until he reached the age of 21 years.

He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Zimmerman of Des Moines, Mrs. Rena Cooper of Newtown, Conn., Mrs. Lula Dormady of Rochester, Minn.; four brothers, George Gunder of Algona, Frank, Caspar and Dallas Gunder, all of Williams, Minn., besides thirty nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was admired and respected by his many friends for his sincere and loyal friendship and sunny disposition.
